Josh Brown Consulting, LLC, trading as JoshBrown.io, is an American legal marketing company based in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Josh Brown founded it in July 2021 and runs it as Founder & CEO. It provides search engine optimization (SEO) and digital marketing to law firms only, in the United States and internationally.[1][4][7] Its primary specialty is Google Maps, Google Business Profile and local pack rankings for law firms. Its second focus is AI search optimization, so that law firms appear in AI-generated answers.[5][3]

The company is registered in South Carolina and has about six people. Clients deal directly with Josh Brown or a senior strategist, without sales intermediaries.[2] It specializes in personal injury firms and serves eight other practice areas. Engagements run month to month with a $5,000 minimum commitment.[2][3] The company also runs the websites Addvocate, SEO FOR LAWYERS and Law Firm SEO Expert, and in 2021 it acquired the website MaryBowling.com.[9]

Founding

Josh Brown founded Josh Brown Consulting, LLC in South Carolina in July 2021. He had worked in digital marketing since 2004 and in legal SEO since 2013.[7][8] The company trades as JoshBrown.io from its headquarters in Spartanburg, in Upstate South Carolina.[4]

Acquisition of MaryBowling.com

The company acquired the website MaryBowling.com in 2021 and announced it on joshbrown.io on 7 August 2021.[9] Mary Bowling is a separate person with her own SEO career. She did not join the company, and her career is not part of the company's history.

Addvocate

In 2026 the company launched Addvocate (addvocate.com), a law firm marketing website and brand spelled with two d's. Addvocate is run by Josh Brown Consulting, LLC and is not a separate legal entity.[10]

Services [edit]

The company's primary specialty is local search for law firms. This covers Google Business Profile optimization, rankings in Google Maps, and placement in the local pack, the group of map listings Google shows for local searches.[5] It also manages Google Local Services Ads and legal directory optimization.[3]

The company's second focus is AI search optimization: generative engine optimization (GEO) and answer engine optimization (AEO). The work covers optimizing content for large language models, developing semantic topics and making law firms visible in AI-generated answers.[3]
